Blog Assignment Ch. 6 & 11 (:

CHAPTER 6 RESPONSE:
* After reading the chapter and with my own personal opinions, I would much rather use less technology. Although I feel that technology can definitely help some students and teachers, I would prefer a personal interaction with my students. Teaching and interacting with children is beyond important. I feel that many children do better in an interactive and hands on environment. Technology can place another stress and hassle on kids that is unnecessary. It's easier to forget about homework. I also do agree thought that with a certain age group may do better with learning through technology. It all depends on the teacher and students.

CHAPTER 11 RESPONSE:
*   One Traditional Technology I was interested in was the Narrowcast video. Reading about it, I didn't really understand what it was but then I thought about it and it's actually very useful. This can be used in schools for things such as video announcements. This would help kids with skills not only in front of the camera but behind it as well. This could open up doors for kids interested in television producing, meteorology, journalism, and even acting. Not only would they inform kids about school news and events but they'd also be learning in the process.
*   One Emerging technology I was interested in was Internet Radio. I know as a kid doing homework through reading books and papers was so boring. Being able to learn about not only international and regional news, but also things kids might be interested in such as sports and music. They also can learn about certain sciences. This puts a new spin on research and I think that's very interesting. It's good for kids to experience change in learning because it holds their attention better. Being in constant motion is good for a young classroom.

My name is Allison Renee but I prefer Allie. I'm outgoing but laid back. My mind is very goal oriented and I do not give up on anything I set my mind to. I am kind, caring, and responsible but slightly spontaneous so I'll keep you on your toes. My hobbies include writing, reading, dance, and softball. I'm a new hostess at Frisch's / Big Boys. My major is early childhood education and I've known this since I entered high school. I grew up around kids because I have a bunch of baby cousins and my heart melts for little kids so spending my days with them inspiring their minds is something I cannot wait for.
